TS police launch app to track stolen vehicles

The News Minute | October 30 2014 | 2:25 pm ISTThe Telangana State police have launched a mobile application on Wednesday to trace stolen vehicles. Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy said that officers can verify whether the vehicle is a stolen one or not by entering vehicle number/engine number or chassis number into the app. The application works on an Android operating system and the development of the IOS compatible app is under progress. The App is being provided to all officers up to the rank of sub-inspectors working in law and order, crime and even included the traffic police wing.  According to a press report in PTI, the Commissioner said “officials can directly update the stolen/abandon vehicle particulars using the option. Search of stolen/abandoned vehicle data through mobile phone will facilitate police officers for immediate tracing of stolen vehicles” He also added that state-wide implementation of this application will help in nabbing the offenders.
