Telangana power minister proposes deal to AP on sharing power

The News Minute | December 19, 2014 | 1:45 pm ISTThe Telangana power minister C Lakshma Reddy, has proposed a deal to the AP government stating that the Telangana government was ready to share power with AP after the new power plants set up, as stipulated in the AP Reorganization Act if AP shares its power for the time being.According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, Reddy, who assumed charge as the power minister on Thursday, after the recent cabinet expansion, added that the government would make the state a “power surplus state” in three years and plans were being prepared to achieve this feat.He also said that the government has devised plans to cross 20,000 MW of production in three years out of which the short term goal was to generate 2,600 MW by 2015 end with the help of various new power projects that are being set up in the state.As per the AP Reorganization Act, power has to be shared in the ratio of 54:46 between Telangana and AP. Telangana is currently facing a power crisis and is looking towards its neighbouring states to supply the power needed and meet the demand.Tweet
