Telangana: Another policeman attempts suicide, hospitalised in serious condition

Written by : TNM Staff

In yet another case of a Telangana policeman attempting suicide, Constable Hanumanth Reddy of Karkhana Police Station in Secunderabad consumed kerosene at the CM’s camp office on Sunday.

He was taken to Yashoda Hospitals where doctors said that his condition was serious. A subsequent media statement issued by the police, however, said that Reddy was out of danger and was kept under observation.

Reddy was posted at the DCP’s office in Karkhana. The police statement said that he had attempted suicide over financial reasons.

The constable’s attempted suicide follows in the wake of multiple such incidents in the recent past in the state.

On August 30, a sub-inspector shot himself with his service revolver just two days after he joined Kerameri Police Station in Adilabad district.

On August 17, another police sub-inspector committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver in Medak district.

The deceased, Ramakrishna Reddy who was posted at Kuknoorpally Police Station, apparently shot himself in the forehead with his service revolver. His family alleged that he committed suicide due to harassment by senior officers. They also claimed that the deceased had written a suicide note in which he mentioned the reasons for taking the extreme step.
