The Hyderabad police on Monday imposed a ban on meetings and rallies after the Union Home Ministry issued an advisory to all the states as well as Union Territories to put security forces and law enforcement agencies on maximum alert following the government's decision to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution.
The ban was imposed under the limits of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissionerates in and around the Telangana capital.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said prohibitory orders have been issued on assembly of five or more persons in sensitive areas.
Telangana Director General of Police, M Mahender Reddy informed all police commissioners and superintendents of police about the advisory over a video conference.
The Commissioner said the security had been beefed up and all preventive measures were being taken to prevent any untoward incident.
Speaking to TNM, Telangana, Additional Directorate General (Law and Order) Jitender Reddy said, “We are watching the situation and taking all necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incident.”
On Monday, after locking down the state of Jammu and Kashmir-- snapping internet and landline connections, confining Kashmiri politicians--the BJP-led Centre introduced the Bill to revoke the special status accorded to it by removing article 370 (1) and 35 (A)--which guarantees autonomy to the state.
Article 370 exempts Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian Constitution, excluding Article 1 (which recognises India as a Union of States) and Article 370 itself. Article 370 allows the state to draft its own Constitution, thereby limiting the Indian Parliament's legislative laws over it.
Reacting to the Bill, former MP and daughter of Chief Minister KCR, K Kavitha wrote, “In this moment of monumental change being made with respect to reorganisation of #JammuAndKashmir & #Article370 my prayers are with the people of J&k. Hope they will be safe & soon peace will prevail over Kashmir.”

Ironically, the ruling and opposition party from the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh--YSRCP and TDP--who have been demanding special status to the state welcomed the bill and appreciated the Prime Minister for the move.
