A long-running tiff over parking turned ugly on Wednesday when a Nigerian student was attacked with an iron rod by his neighbour in Banjara Hills.

Khazeem, a 26-year-old third year student of Nizam college and a resident of Singarambasti, Banjara Hills used to park his vehicle in front of the accused Mohammad Ghafoor’s apartment who stays opposite Khazeem's residence.

On Wednesday, their altercation over parking escalated into a fight with Gafoor attacking Khazeem with an iron rod.

Banjara Hills Inspector Srinivas told The News Minute, ‘’It was a small parking issue which led to a fight. According to the Nigerian student, Mohammad Gafoor and his supporters attacked him with an iron rod. He was immediately rushed to Century Hospital near his residence where he got eight stiches on his head. It was a small incident and Khazeem was immediately discharged from the hospital.”

While this incident appears to be a racial attack, the Inspector was quick to dismiss this saying that it didn’t happen just because he was a Nigerian as there are many cases when even Nigerians attack Indians.

This incident comes close on the heels of the murder of a Congolese student in Delhi.

A case has been registered against Mohammad Gafoor under IPC Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons) and he has been arrested.

Further investigation is going on.
