Written by : TNM Staff

With the students of the Hyderabad Central University planning to organize a protest march on Wednesday as part of ‘Chalo HCU’, a huge security cordon has been thrown up around the VC’s lodge.

The second Chalo HCU event has been organized to protest against the alleged assault on students and professors on March 22. Several student union groups, cutting across ideology are expected to participate in the protest. However, given that the university has prohibited the entry of outsiders inoto campus, students from other colleges and universities in Hyderabad may not be allowed inside by the police.

Students are pressing forth their demands which include: Enactment of Rohith Act, removal of Appa Rao as VC, ending of blockade in HCU and dropping of all cases against students and faculty.

“Students are trying to block the Academic Council meeting which is happening at VC Lodge today at 10:30 AM. There is a lot of security at VC Lodge now, campus security as well as lot of police is surrounding the VC Lodge,” said Avinish, an alumnus.

The members of several student groups were detained by the police. Members of SFI, PDSU, ADSO who reached Hyderabad University for Chalo HCU protests were stopped at the main gate. Watch this video, in which police are seen virtually passing students into the police van:
