The police in Maharashtra's Parbhani on Sunday served a notice to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, directing him not to create communal tension in the city.

The Times of India reported:

The Hyderabad Lok Sabha member was in Parbhani to attend a function at a madrassa. A police inspector served the notice under section 149 of the CRPC. Cops directed Asad to exercise discipline and responsible behaviour during his stay.

"You shall not through speech or action, commit an act which violates the model code of conduct or create communal tension among the communities in the city," Zeenews quotes the notice as stating.

In response, Asad tweeted "Have been served CRPC 149 notice by Parbhani cops as I am here to attend a Madrassa function. Freedom of expression zinda?"
