Unaccounted cash worth Rs 81.85 cr seized in TN

Unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 81.85 crore had so far been seized by election officials in Tamil Nadu since the model code of conduct for the May 16 Assembly elections came into force last month.

Static Surveillance Teams, police officials and Income Tax officers seized a total of Rs 81.85 crore so far, an official release said on Wednesday.

The seizure was made at various places including in Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Ariyalur districts, it said.

The release also said cotton clothes and readymade garments worth Rs 5.52 lakh were seized in Vellore recently.
