TN panel orders return of Rs. 7.16 crore excess school fees back to parents

The News Minute | February 21, 2015 | 08.40 am ISTA committee constituted to establish fee structures for private schools in Tamil Nadu from 2013 to 2016 has directed the Department of School Education(DSE) to refund Rs. 7.16 crore excess fees collected from 26 schools back to parents. The Justice SR Singaravelu Private Schools Fee Determination Committee received 52 complaints of private schools fixing fees more than the prescribed amount, reported New Indian Express.Enquiries were conducted and 12 of them were asked to refund Rs. 46.19 lakh in excess fee collected from students last year,Enquiries also revealed that 26 other schools in the list had collected fees in excess and the committee ordered the DSE to collect and return the money to parents.
