Actor Kamal Haasan and director Gautam Ghosh have been added to the Shyam Benegal committee which was set up by government on January 1 to look into the functioning of Censor Board.

Currently, the committee consists of six members. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had taken this step to relook into the working of the Censor Board. Shyam Benegal said that to make sure the panel had representation from different regions of the country, actor Kamal Haasan and directors like Shaji Karun and Gautam Ghosh have been included in the panel.

Others who are part of the panel are filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, ad-man Piyush Pandey and film journalist Bhawana Somayaa. Last week, I & B Minister met the panel and said that film certification guidelines required contemporary interpretation and must be as non-discretionary as possible, according to TOI.
