IT raids at properties of Chennai Mayor's son, former TN Minister Natham Vishwanathan

Income Tax raids are reportedly underway at properties belonging to former Electricity Minister Natham Viswanathan as well as at the residence of Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy’s son.

The searches are reportedly being carried out at the senior AIADMK leader’s residence in Dindigul as well as at properties belonging to his daughter and relatives in Chennai.

Natham Viswanathan, who was minister in the previous AIADMK government, contested from Athoor in the 2016 polls instead of his home constituency of Natham. He lost to DMK’s I Periasamy. He was stripped off his post as AIADMK’s Dindigul District Secretary and was made an organisational secretary and a party spokesperson in June.

A raid is also being carried out at Duraisamy’s son’s residence at Tambaram in Chennai. Saidai Duraisamy’s term as Chennai Mayor ends in October this year, when local body elections are scheduled to take place.

Meanwhile, IT raids are also underway at properties belonging to leading jeweller Kirtilal Kalidas.
