Malaysian Airways has landed itself into a soup once again after they sent out a tweet that read, “Want to go somewhere, but don’t know where?” The tweet received a lot of angry backlash on twitter, with people calling the airline company insensitive as it has been in the media this past year for all the wrong reasons.

In March, the airlines lost an entire plane carrying 239 passengers that was headed to Beijing. The plane vanished out of sight right over the Pacific Ocean and has yet to be found. Then again, in July, another Malaysian Airlines plane was shot down near Ukraine, killing all the 289 passengers on board.

Huffington Post reported that the airlines deleted the tweet within 24 hours of posting it and issued an apology saying that they did not intend to be insensitive and that the tweet was just misconstrued.

This is also not the first social media mistake committed by the airlines. In September, they conducted a promotional offer for their tickets, asking which place was on people’s ‘bucket list’. A bucket list refers to a list of things one wants to before they die.

Hence it does not come as a surprise that the airlines has also announced huge losses this year, leading them to be taken over by the government by the end of the year.
