Written by : TNM Staff

Expressing concern over the ongoing floods in Chennai, United States has offered humanitarian aid to India in dealing with the natural disaster, according to news reports.

Terming it as ‘the worst flooding in decades’, US State department officials extended their readiness to help Chennaites as well as the Indian government to deal with this unprecedented crisis.

An emergency notice was given to its Consulate in Chennai as well as American citizens headed for Chennai, warning them to stay away from the affected areas.

Though the US is in constant touch with India to discuss relief and rescue measures and their speedy implementation, it is yet to receive any such request for help from the Indian side.
