The Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by expelled AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa seeking a CBI probe into the death of late Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa.

The apex court also dismissed petition filed by a Chennai-based NGO Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuva Sakthi on the matter.

The two-judge bench also said that Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuva Sakthi cannot approach any High Court on the matter.

“What monitoring? What will we do? There is some petition pending in the Madras High Court, go there if you want with your grievances. How can you come here under Article 32?" the court said.

“What are we supposed to do here? You have filed a petition under Article 32 (violation of fundamental rights of citizens by the State) of the Constitution... We will dismiss these petitions and if you press it further, we will impose costs on you,” the bench of Justices PC Ghose and Rohinton F Nariman said, according to The Hindu report on the same.  

In her petition, Pushpa alleged that the cause of Jayalalithaa’s death was “suspicious” as nobody was allowed to visit her in the hospital. She said the real medical condition were also “kept under wraps”.   

The TN Telugu Yuva Sakthi, in its petition, alleged that Jayalalithaa’s her medical condition was made to worsen intentionally by those around her.  

Apart from Sasikala Pushpa and Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuva Sakthi , RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy in a TV interview also sought an investigation into the specifics of Jayalalithaa’s treatment. 

Even the Madras HC on December 29 expressed doubts over Jayalalithaa’s death on the same day long time Jayalalithaa aide Sasikala Natarajan was made the party’s AIADMK’s general secretary.

While hearing, a petition filed by an AIADMK member, the vacation bench comprising of Justice Vaidyanathan Justice Parthiban observed, “We have personal suspicions about Jayalalithaa’s death.” 

Late TN CM Jayalalithaa was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai on September 22, and breathed her last at 11:30pmon December 5.

Her funeral was attended by tens of thousands of people apart from the Prime Minister, the President and a host of high profile politicians across the country which included several CMs of other states.
