Education authorities in the Mexican state of Morelos announced that a lesbian teacher will return to classes after accusations against made by parents of her students were dismissed.

The parents impugned Ada Lilia Gaxiola for inadequate work performance, but she said that their complaints contained a homophobic sentiment as a result of which she was the target of insults and attacks.

Gaxiola was not allowed to teach her class in a high school in Cuernavaca, some 90 km south of Mexico City while the situation was investigated, authorities said Tuesday.

State authorities ultimately dismissed the accusations and decided to allow Gaxiola to return to teaching.

"I'm returning to my school without threats. This whole thing was very difficult. I hope it ends here," Gaxiola said.
