Police in Kollam, Kerala arrested a man for allegedly mixing poison in midday meal for students in Punalur MSC LP school on Tuesday afternoon.

The accused has been identified as Sathyan, a local spurious liquor trader.

The arrest was made after a teacher in the school saw a man running out of the kitchen and made sure nobody ate the food made for around 100 students and teachers.

However, the motive of the crime is yet unknown.

According to locals, the Parent-Teachers Association of the school had objected to Sathyan’s selling of spurious liquor in the Gram Sabha.

Further details awaited.
