Written by : TNM

Kerala's Director General of Police T P Senkumar has issued a strict code of conduct for the police officers inspecting vehicles and regulating traffic. Of late, there have been several media reports of bad behavior by police officials who were carrying out vehicle inspections. “If the driver of the vehicle you inspect is a male then he should be addressed as ‘sir’ or ‘friend’, if the driver is a female then she should be addressed ‘madam’ or ‘sister’. No abusive words shall be used. If the travelers are a family or senior citizens try not to trouble them,” reads the order issued by the DGP. The order also says that “a state’s culture also depends on how a police officer behaves at traffic spots, and help visiting tourists.” The order has also stressed on not accepting bribes, and not physically harming anyone even if the person has committed a crime.
