Written by : TNM

For seventeen-year-old Shalini, the going was tough, but she emerged victorious. When the results of II PU exams came out on Monday, she knew that the years of hard work she had put into juggling her work, studies and home had paid off. She has had to overcome many struggles to reach where she is today, said an NDTV report.  Shalini has been working tirelessly as a house help in five houses and an office in Bengaluru. Waking up at 4.30 in the morning everyday, she alternated between working and studying every few hours in the day.  Life changed for her after her father was bid-ridden after he met with an accident. To make ends meet, Shalini's mother took up work in other houses. But one day, Shalini's brother was diagnosed with cancer which forced her mother to spend most of her time tending to her son. With their financial condition looking brim, Shalini started cleaning utensils and washing clothes in other houses to earn a little extra money.
