The News Minute | January 10, 2014 | 12.34 pm IST Police have arrested a man from coastal Karnataka suspected to be a supplier of explosives to the Indian Mujahideen.The Bengaluru Police on Thursday arrested 34-year-old Syed Ismail Afaque, a homeopathy doctor, during a raid which also led to the seizure of a large cache of explosives during a raid in Bhatkal on the same day, The Indian Express reported. Afaque's family denied all charges against him, calling him a 'regular family man'. Police also arrested two associates, Saddam Hussein, 35, and Abdus Subur, 24, and all three are natives of Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district.According to The Indian Express, highly placed sources in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Bengaluru Police said that Afaque allegedly supplied explosives to IM operative Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi in Mangalore for the February 21, 2013 twin blasts in Hyderabad’s Dilsukhnagar that killed 17 people. He is suspected to be involved in other blasts as well. Bengaluru Police are investigating at present, but the NIA will later take custody of him. Tweet
