The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Bengaluru and other districts of Karnataka on Wednesday, October 5. A yellow warning has also been issued in Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu and Shivamogga districts of the state. A yellow warning has also been issued in the central Chitradurga and Davangere districts.

Most of the districts in the state have been receiving rain in the recent past. However, IMD has stated that the rain will slow down in the regions of north Karnataka. Bengaluru is experiencing cold weather due to a cloudy atmosphere. The surrounding districts of Bengaluru like Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Bengaluru Rural are also likely to get light showers.

Karnataka saw heavy rainfall in the month of September, leading to flood like situations in various parts of the state. In Chitradurga district, rising water levels trapped five farmers on an island in Koluru village on September 9. Soon afterwards, residents of the village informed the police, who sent a team from the fire and emergency services. The police rescued the five farmers and brought them to safety.

Following heavy rains on September 5, major areas in the north, south and east of Bengaluru were inundated, with about a feet of water in many areas. Mahadevpura area was the worst affected with Sarjapur road, Silk Board, HSR Layout, Varthur, Eco Space, Bellandur, Sarjapur Road, and Doddakanneli also getting flooded in the rains, with visuals showing vehicles stranded in water in many areas. The roads to the Marathahalli flyover were under water, completely cutting the flyover to vehicles. Boats were deployed in Bengaluru suburbs after heavy rains inundated the city on September 5. The most affected areas were the IT hub regions of Electronic City, Marathahalli, Outer Ring Road, Mahadevapura, Whitefield and Bommanahalli.
