Get ready to see Congress in-charge of Bengaluru city: Here's what others are getting

Written by : TNM Staff

Congress hopes to clinch the mayor's post on Friday after nearly a decade. It has lured the support of JD(S) and the seven independent councillors by showering largesse and offering important posts in-return for the opportunity to run the city.

The mayoral election is scheduled  to be conducted on September 11.

The High Court verdict on voting rights non-BBMP members is awaited and the result of the election is subject to the verdict of the court. The case was filed by members of the BJP stating that MLAs, MPs and MLCs should not have voting rights in the Mayoral elections.

The Congress has offered some key posts to the independents. According to The Hindu, it has offered posts of chairpersons of the seven standing committees t the independents.

The JD(S) would get the Deputy Mayor's post.

Reports says that the Congress will head the Taxation and Finance Committee whose chairperson presents the civic budget.

The independents most probably would head some important committees like health, social welfare and ward-level works.

All parties have planned to transport their councillors-elect from the resorts to the  BBMP headquarters on September 11.
