Another racist attack in Bengaluru? Manipuri man's face slashed

Written by : TNM Staff

A youngster from Manipur was allegedly attacked by a group of men at Viveknagar in Bengaluru on Sunday.

24-year-old Hosea told Bangalore Mirror that the attack was unprovoked and could be racially motivated.

A case of attempt to murder has been filed against the group of men, though the police have not made any arrests in the case.

Hosea was on his way back to his home in Ejipura from a cyber café on Sunday night, when a group of men from the other side of the road walked up to him and snatched his cap. When he demanded his cap back, the group of men began to pass it among themselves and began to beat him up.

"I fought with them for a few minutes. Then one of them took out a sharp weapon and slashed my face. After sometime, people interfered and told the men to stop fighting," he told BM.

After realizing that he had a cut on his face, he sought treatment at a private hospital. He then filed a complaint with the commissioner of police (Central) Sandip Patil on Monday. Viveknagar police said that they have vital clues about the attackers and that they would be nabbed anytime soon.
