1,06,952: The number of motorists in Bengaluru fined for using mobile phones while driving

The News Minute | November 17, 2014 | 08:39 am IST Cases have been registered by the City Traffic Police Department against 1,06,952 people for using mobile phones while driving till October this year, states a report by The New Indian Express. There is also a proposal to increase the fine levied on those using mobile phones while driving. At present, the fine is set at Rs 100, but could increase five times if the proposal were to be cleared by the union Cabinet. The number of registered cases, however, has come down from the 1,28,270 booked last year.
