‘Never seen a superstar who is so humble’: Huma Qureshi on working with Rajinikanth

Written by : TNM

Actress Huma Qureshi, best known for her work in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, is making her Tamil debut with superstar Rajinikanth in Kaala. Although it’s not clear whether she plays his love interest or not, she is happy with the strong role director Ranjith has written for her.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, she said, “It’s an amazing experience to work with Rajinikanth. When he walks, everybody becomes silent and make space for him. For me, the most beautiful thing with him is the simplicity he carries. He is such a humble person. I have never seen a superstar who is so humble, who is so simple and down-to-earth.”

Asked if she doesn’t feel overshadowed by his superstardom, she said, “Even if I were made to stand like a tree next to him, I would have been very happy. But thankfully, Ranjith has written a great role for me. Acting in another language is very difficult, for me, as an actress. So, the roles have to be worth it. It’s a powerful role, and it’s more special as it is Rajini sir’s film.”

She added that it’s a great learning experience to work with Thalaivar. “He is such an amazing actor. Once he is on sets, he never leaves it. He stays and watches over the work; he is always observing. There is so much to learn from him.”

In the film, Rajinikanth is rumoured to be playing a slum-lord-turned-gangster. It also stars Nana Patekar, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil and Samuthirakani.
