Trisha is reportedly playing a role with negative shades in Dhanush’s Kodi. This has raised a lot of eyebrows and subsequently increased anticipation too!

Heroines tend to play it safe when it comes to selection of roles, possibly worried that if they stray out of the "good woman" category, they will be typecast as the vamp. They're also hesitant to take up roles that make them appear older or middle-aged.

Trisha already played a single mother in "Yennai Arindhal" and now, it appears that she is willing to push the envelope further.

While many wondered what could have persuaded Trisha to take up such a role at this stage in her career, she has revealed in a chat with The Hindu that she finally has the freedom to do any kind of role now.

Trisha said, “I loved being part of mass movies, commercial fare where I had to dance. But, with age, one has to move on. I like that I can now pick and choose what I want, try out different genres; take a break if I want to… I really like what I’ve attempted in Kodi. At the same time, I understand that I have that freedom now because of the work I’ve done.”

Jyothika, when she was at the peak of her career, played a negative role in "Pachakili Mutthucharam", causing much surprise. It's good to see more female actors venturing out of their comfort zone.

Currently awaiting the release Kodi, Trisha will be next seen in horror-comedy, Mohini. Having done a spate of horror films in quick succession, she feels she’s had enough and wants to try out something else.
