Suriya, who recently completed shooting for Selvaraghavan’s NGK, is on the verge wrapping up KV Anand’s Kaappaan. The actor is now all set to commence work on his next yet-untitled project - dubbed as Suriya 38 - with director Sudha Kongara, who rose to fame with R Madhavan starrer Irudhi Suttru.
If everything goes as planned, the regular shooting of Suriya 38 will start from April and the makers have confirmed over the weekend that the film will be co-produced by Oscar winning Guneet Monga, who is foraying into Tamil with this project.

Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, which is bankrolling the project, welcomed Guneet on board as co-producer via a tweet.
In her latest interview to The Hindu, Guneet has confirmed signing Suriya 38, and also has revealed that it will be based on the life of Captain Gopinath of Air Deccan. With Monga on board, could it be possible that the film could be a Tamil-Hindi bilingual.
It’s worth mentioning that Suriya had starred in the Hindi version of Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra, and had dubbed in his own voice. The news about Sudha's film with Suriya has been doing the rounds for nearly two years now. Suriya was mighty impressed with Sudha's Irudhi Suttru and expressed interest to collaborate.
In early 2017, Sudha pitched a story idea which Suriya really liked. Since he was busy with Singam 3, Thaana Serntha Kootam and NGK, he had to postpone the project. The makers are hopeful of releasing the film by the end of this year or early next year, according to reliable sources.
GV Prakash Kumar has already been signed to compose music. Prakash had recently revealed that he has already completed composing songs for the film, which will be simultaneously shot and released in Telugu.
Sudha Kongara is popular for her works in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema. She debuted as a screen writer for the Indian-English film Mitr, My Friend, which was selected as the Best English Film of the year award at the 49th National Film Awards.
In 2016, she made her Hindi cinema debut with Saala Khadoos and later in Telugu with Guru, both films remade from the Tamil original, Irudhi Suttru.
