Blackberry to bring two new smartphones ‘Ghost’ and ‘Ghost Pro’ to India this quarter

The ‘bezel-free display’ bug seems to have bitten the Blackberry brand as well. Customers in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka can look forward to a couple of Blackberry devices within this quarter itself. And these phones are being designed and manufactured in India by Noida-based Optiemus.

The first off-the-block would be a phone christened ‘Ghost’.  Though not much information is available on this phone, some renders have surfaced seem to indicate the phone will have a bezel-less display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and the phone will include the Blackberry Hub, that holds all communication tools in one place.

Another model, possibly, the Ghost Pro, with the conventional 16:9 display, is also expected to hit the shelves this quarter and Optiemus has announced that the Indian market will see more Blackberry models being released in the succeeding quarters also.

Blackberry phones are known for their superiority when it comes to their security and the DTEK app will form part of the new Blackberry phones to be launched as well. This app ensures your Blackberry device gets real-time security protection and alerts whenever there is any undesirable activity on your device, like an app accessing personal data.

The Executive Director of Optiemus, while disclosing many of these aspects claimed that it is for these reasons that Blackberry is able to command a premium over the other brands even with similar components and features.

He mentions privacy, security and convenience as being part of the DNA of every Blackberry phone, irrespective of the price point and these will be found in the new phones to be released for the Indian and neighborhood markets as well.

The only disappointing factor for the die-hard Blackberry fans is that the new phones will not sport the QWERTY keyboard, if one goes by the renders.
