Even as the fear of Dengue remains in various parts of the country, Andhra Pradesh is reportedly witnessing a mysterious fever which is affecting the kidneys and leaving victims with swollen legs.

The fever, which has predominantly surfaced in the East Godavari district and Agency area, is causing many people to panic.

On Tuesday, 45-year-old Karam Rama Rao who was admitted in the Government hospital in Kakinada died while undergoing treatment for the symptoms.

The New Indian Express reported:

Tribals of remote agency villages are caught in fear of the fever with swollen legs disease and they are temporarily migrating to the nearest plain areas where hospital and medical services are readily available. In other hand, even at plain, upland and delta areas also people suffering with viral fevers and dengue symptoms.

Meanwhile other reports stated that 29 of the 32 patients admitted to the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Guntur were discharged after getting dialysis.

Speaking to The Hindu, Collector H. Arun Kumar said:

"A team of experts from Delhi is going to visit Chintooru in a couple of days and collect samples from the patients to undertake the root cause analysis. Once the reports are out, we will take the necessary steps to root out the problem."
