AP matches Telangana's wage hike of 43%

The News Minute | February 10, 2015 | 3:20 pm ISTA day after Telangana announced a 43% salary increase for all categories of employees, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, reciprocated his Telangana counterpart and announced the same 43% salary hike in AP.The hike which will come into effect from June 2, 2014 has more than six lakh employees and pensioners standing to benefit from it.The hike would cost the exchequer close to Rs 7,000 crore annually, which may need to be re considered as the state is going through a severe financial crisis.The Pay Revision Commission (PRC) had recommended a hike of 29%, but both AP and Telangana chose to peg the increase at 43%.Chandrababu Naidu while addressing the media said that the TDP regime was going ahead with the move, despite the crisis, keeping in mind the welfare if its employees.The Centre recently turning down the state's request for Rs 20,000 crore as financial assistance for the proposed capital in the state has also added to their woes.TweetFollow @thenewsminuteRead - Cash crunched AP doing all it can?
