Police on Friday arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the rape and murder of a five-year- old girl in Damerakunta village in Telangana's Karimnagar district last month.

Venkata Swamy, who was a neighbour of the girl in the village, allegedly committed the crime on February 27, said Karimnagar SP D Joel Davis.

Swamy has been remanded in judicial custody.
