Written by : PTI

With Congress suffering a humiliating defeat in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election, city party chief Danam Nagender on Saturday said he would resign owning moral responsibility for the poor show.

The leader said he would quit his post though the entire GHMC limits did not come under his jurisdiction.

Nagender, a minister under Congress governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh, said the party's internal squabbles should end to regain people's confidence.

Congress could only win two wards in the 150-ward Hyderabad civic body elections.

The results of the February 2 GHMC elections were announced on Friday.

TRS led by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao pulled off a spectacular victory in the polls defeating Congress and TDP-BJP combine.
