The TVK has come under scrutiny after party president Vijay declared a pending criminal case against him in his Trichy East nomination papers which he’d failed to declare earlier in his Perambur affidavit.

Vijay is contesting in both the Perambur and Trichy East constituencies. In the affidavit he submitted while filing his nomination in Trichy East on April 2, he declared a criminal case pending against him since August 2025. This same case was not mentioned in the nomination papers he filed on March 30 in Perambur.

The case is registered at the Koodakovil police station in Madurai district for unlawful assembly, obscenity and voluntarily causing hurt. The complainant is a man who had alleged in 2025 that Vijay’s bouncers had manhandled and pushed him off a seven-foot ramp during the party’s state conference.

At the time, the complainant had also alleged that when he’d tried to climb the ramp Vijay was speaking from, the bouncers pushed him down, causing him injuries.

After Vijay filed his Perambur nomination papers, another case was registered at the K5 Peravallur police station for wrongful restraint, unlawful assembly and for disobeying orders from a public servant. The Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning (TNCP) Act was invoked.

The case was registered against Vijay and 5,000 TVK cadres based on the complaint of a Flying Squad officer.

This case too has been declared in Vijay’s Trichy East affidavit.
