Three days after the DMK protested against the Trust Vote in Tamil Nadu Assembly, party’s Working President MK Stalin has claimed that the Speaker and Assembly Secretary are attempting to tamper with the records related to the floor test which took place on Saturday.

This was stated by senior counsel R Shanmugsundaram for MK Stalin, when the first bench of Acting Chief Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh and Justice R Mahadevan were deciding to take up Stalin’s PIL on Wednesday, reported The New Indian Express.

Shanmugasundram told the court that they were assured that the case will be taken up for hearing on Tuesday, but as the plea was not mentioned in the cause list, the counsel asked the judges to take the case after lunch as they had special information about the attempts made by speaker and secretary to tamper Assembly records. The bench said that the PIL would be heard on Wednesday, reported TNIE.

The PIL filed by MK Stalin has asked the court to nullify the decision of making Edappadi Palaniswami as the chief minister. He also asked the court to inform the speaker to conduct a secret ballot for the floor test with all the MLAs under a monitoring committee which includes secretary to Tamil Nadu governor, chief secretary of the government and an official in the rank of Chief Electoral Officer from the Election Commission.

However, DMK has announced a hunger protest on Wednesday in all the district offices in Tamil Nadu. They will protest against the assembly proceedings that allowed Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami to win the confidence vote. Stalin had asked governor to invoke his Constitutional powers "to nullify the entire proceedings with a view to protect the spirit of democracy and the Constitution".
