Written by : TNM Staff

A day after three members of a family at a village near Tirupattur in Vellore were found murdered, police suspect that the son was behind the brutal crime.

The son, Tamilarasan (25), was the only member of the family found alive. The police had initially suspected that the murders were committed over a property dispute, but are yet to firmly establish the motive for the crime.

Mohan (55), an employee of Tangedco, his wife Rajeswari (47) and their daughter Suganya (23) were found murdered, with their throats slit on Monday morning. Suganya, who was scheduled to get married next month, had had her face smashed in with a rock.

Tamilarasan, who was found with stab wounds to his throat and chest, has been admitted at the government hospital in Tirupattur. His condition is reported to be critical.

The police say the murder took place around 5.30am. The crime came to light when a milk vendor reached the house at 7.10am, reported Times of India.

Police had recovered a penknife from the house, which had bloodstains on it.

A case has been registered and the police investigation continues.
