Blaming the college administration in the suicide note for not providing proper education in spite of charging an exorbitant fee, three girl students of a private Naturopathy college committed suicide by wrapping themselves in a saree and jumping together into a well on Saturday night in Villupuram district.

The girls were studying in the second year of the college. In their suicide note, they wrote that the college administration had already charged Rs. 6 lakhs each as fees and they were forced to pay more fees. Being from poor families, they were unable to pay it. They were not even given proper fee receipts. They also blamed college owner Vasuki Subramanian of verbally abusing them. Apparently, the seniors had also complained about the verbal abuse to the college administration but no action was taken. They also wrote that rather than studying, they were made to work in the college. It was stated in the suicide note that they were committing suicide so that serious action can be taken against the college authorities.

The college owner Vasuki is now absconding after she was named in the suicide note.

The three girls are Saranya, Priyanka and Monisha. Sources told The News Minute that the college had taken lumpsum amount as fees from the students and did not even provide fees receipts. There were not even enough lecturers in the college. The college license was also cancelled due to lack of basic facilities in the college.

From September 2015, there were protests against the college authorities. On September 14, 2015, there was a hunger strike and students tried self-immolation. According to the sources, in October six protesters attempted suicide by eating rat poison and were admitted to the Villupuram government hospital. But still, the government did not take note of the issue.
