The Supreme Court has convicted Sasikala and others in the 20-year-old Disproportionate Assets case. The verdict comes as a big blow to Sasikala's political career, since she will have to go to jail for 4 years now, and cannot contest elections for 6 years after that.

Sasikala, Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran have been asked to surrender immediately by the SC. The apex court also upheld the penalties set by the Special Court - amounting to Rs 10 crore each.

Meanwhile, celebrations have broken out at OPS's residence following the verdict.
