Two perfect zeroes. These are the marks awarded to two Filipino divers who took part in the men’s 3-metre event at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Singapore on Wednesday.

A video of 21-year-old John Elmerson Fabriga and 17-year-old John David Pahoyo executing their dives miserably has gone viral. While one landed flat on his back, the other’s dive didn’t make for a pretty spectacle either.

Even though the duo seems to be laughing off the matter, Philippine Sports Commission chair Richie Garcia appears to be miffed and has reportedly asked aquatics chief Mark Joseph for an explanation.

According to a report in Time, Pahoyo commented on the video which had been posted on the Facebook page SGAG, saying “I even laughed at myself after I did this dive,” he said and tagged his teammate Fabriga.“I am still proud because not all of us have the privilege to represent our own country to such a big sporting event like this. And by the way can I ask all of you if you can still smile after getting embarrassed in front of thousands of people?”
