The son of Hollywood star Jackie Chan has been charged with a drug offence by Chinese officials in Beijing, according to a report on BBC.

Jaycee Chan has been accused of sheltering other drug users and has also been previously booked for possession of 100 grams of marijuana at his house.

According to the report, if he is convicted in the case he could face up to 3 years in jail.

Chinese President Xi Jinping had called for ‘forceful measures’ to tackle the problem of illegal drug use in China in June because of which several film and television stars including directors and prominent screenwriters were arrested, said the report.

Jackie Chan who was named the official ‘Narcotics Control Ambassador’ in 2009 apologised in August following his son’s first arrest.

According to the report Jaycee Chan was caught with Taiwanese actor Kai Ko at his home in Beijing where he tested positive for marijuana but was booked for sheltering other drug abusers.
