Delhi minister sacked over sex tape scandal claims he is targeted because he is Dalit

A day after Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Sandeep Kumar was sacked over a sex tape, claimed that he was “targeted as he is a Dalit”.

Speaking to TV reporters on Thursday morning, Kumar claimed, "I am facing these allegations because I am a Dalit.”

The minister said that he was not in the video which resulted in his sacking. Kumar however, said that he is loyal to the party and he had ‘resigned’ because “I will not let the AAP name be tainted".

Kumar was sacked by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday evening after an ‘objectionable’ CD surfaced.

Following a meeting by the AAP, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said, “Within half an hour, action was taken. The minister was removed."

"AAP is a party of ideals. It has a zero tolerance policy towards corruption, scandals... Ministers found taking bribes were removed immediately as soon as it was found. Action will be taken swiftly against any member irrespective of status or position," he added.

Incidentally, when Kumar was appointed minister in 2015, he had publicly said that he touches his wife’s feet every day.
