Six Omani nationals have been arrested on Thursday in connection with the murder of a Keralite in this Gulf country.

According to agency reports, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has confirmed that the body of 47-year-old John Philip who went missing on June 10 was found on Wednesday. "His body was found. He was murdered," a senior police official was quoted as saying.

The police had launched a search for John who worked at a fuel station in Sunaina near Ibri, after his colleague filed a complaint on June 11 that John was missing since the previous day.

Going by primary evidence, it is believed that John must have tried to abort a robbery attempt at his work place, following which the gang decided to abduct and later do away with him.

Reports say that the CCTV cameras were found damaged with the cassettes missing and that there were bloodstains on the walls. Around OMR 5000 worth in cash was also reported missing from the fuel station.

His relatives expect to receive his body by Sunday at his native place at Manarcadu in Kottayam.
