Shuhaib murder case: Kerala police recover three swords, send them for forensic exam

After the Kerala High Court came down heavily on the state police for its shoddy investigation into the murder of youth Congress worker Shuhaib, the special investigation team has now recovered three swords allegedly used by the assailants to hack Shuhaib to death.

According to police officials, the weapons were recovered from a quarry just 3 kilometers from the crime scene, at Velliyaparamba near Mattanur. Officials said that the weapons will be sent for forensic examinations to confirm if they were used for the murder.

According to police officers, the swords were first spotted by the labourers who were clearing the undergrowth in a plot near Velliyamparamba and they alerted the police.

The High Court on Tuesday had heavily criticized the police for their inefficiency to take the investigation forward effectively even after 15 days.

The High Court’s condemnation also came in the backdrop of the CM’s denial for the need of a CBI investigation into the case.

The CM had then said, “The police inquiry in the case was satisfactory. Action will be taken in the case without favour to anyone. The argument that those who have been booked in the case are dummy accused is baseless. The ongoing probe is just.”

Disappointed and dissatisfied with the police investigation, the family of the slain Congress worker Shuhaib had moved the High Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation-led probe into his death.
