Seven Kerala CPI(M) cadres get life term for murdering RSS activist in 2007

Seven members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have been sentenced to life imprisonment after the Mavelikkara additional sessions court in Kerala found them guilty of the murder of RSS leader Chandran.

G Chandran (39), a taluk leader of the RSS in Mavelikkara was hacked to death in a quarry on April 20, 2007. The police investigation had concluded that attack was a retaliatory one. Earlier that day, CPI(M) cadres had attacked an RSS leader. A grievously injured Chandran was left bleeding in the quarry, and his body was found only the next day.

Omanakuttan (45), Roshan (30), Robin (25), Pradeep (30), Praveen (27), Sunil (37) and Kunjomon (60) were given a life term.

Eighteen witnesses had deposed in the case and the prosecution was able to win the case using 11 evidences collected from the spot of murder and other places.
