Couple from Gujarat trampled to death by wild elephants in Kerala

The News Minute | January 22, 2015 | 10:20 am ISTA couple from Gujarat was trampled to death by wild elephants in a popular tourist spot in Kerala on Wednesday, states a report by The New Indian Express. The incident took place in Gavi in Pathanamthitta district of the state. The deceased couple, Bhupendra P Raval, 52, and his wife Jagruti P Ravel, 50, from Thaltej in Ahmedabad, were part of a seven member team that went to trek in the Gavi forest, states the report. The guide accompanying them managed to escape with minor injuries. According to The News Indian Express' sources, the couple was trying to take photographs of the elephants 'when a a sambar deer ran across after making noise and the elephants ran amok.'
