Suriya’s highly ambitious and critically-acclaimed 24 may not have turned out to be a profitable venture, but his upcoming release S3 has already emerged as a money-spinner. While the film is still on the floors, its Tamil Nadu theatrical rights are said to have been bought for a whopping Rs. 41 crore.

The third installment in the Singam franchise is being directed by Hari, and it also stars Shruti Haasan and Anushka Shetty. Recently, the theatrical rights of the film’s Telugu dubbed version were sold for Rs. 18 crore in Andhra and Telangana, making it the highest for a dubbed film. S3, formerly known as Singam 3, features Suriya as a fearless cop who, with the help of a journalist, played by Shruti Haasan, brings down the empire of the antagonist.

The film, which is currently being shot in Vishakhapatnam, is most likely to hit the screens this Diwali. Playback singer Krish has essayed a pivotal role in the film, which has music by Harris Jayaraj.
