Sridevi and Rekha to be honoured with ANR Award

Sridevi and Rekha will be felicitated with the ANR Award for their accomplishments in the film industry. Sridevi will posthumously get the ANR Award for 2018, and Rekha, for 2019, confirmed Nagarjuna during a press meet held to announce the awards. Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi will be gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The ANR Award was instituted by the Akkineni family in memory of the superstar Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

A tweet from the official handle of Annapurna Studios reads: “The ANR Awards for the year 2018 & 2019 were announced today. Late Sridevi B Kapoor & Ms Rekha will be awarded at a ceremony on Nov 17th. Mr Chiranjeevi Garu will attend as a special guest for the occasion.@acfmofficial third convocation will follow the ceremony.”

Sridevi was last seen making a cameo in the 2018 film Zero, which was released after her demise. The actor passed away on February 24, 2018.

Rekha is currently expecting the release of Panipat this year. It is gearing up to hit the marquee on December 6. The film, based on the Third Battle of Panipat, stars Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles. Ajay – Atul are composing music for this venture with CK Muraleedharan for cinematography, and Steven Bernard is editing it. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Panipat is produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar under the banners Ashutosh Gowariker Productions and Vision World Films.

Akkineni Nageswara Rao (September 20, 1924 – January 22, 2014) was an actor and producer. His career spanned over a period of 75 years during which he acted in several blockbusters. He is considered one of the greatest and most successful actors of Indian cinema. ANR established Annapurna Studios in 1975 in Hyderabad.
