Shiv Sena writes to Google and BJP leaders demanding "Google doodle" for Bal Thackeray

The News Minute | January 17, 2015 | 10:00 am ISTThe Shiv Sena have now demanded a "Google doodle" for the late Sena chief, Bal Thackeray on January 23, for his 89th birth anniversary which was preceded by demands for a memorial site and a Bharat Ratna. Rahul Shewale, a Sena MP from Mumbai South Central has written to Google and to senior BJP leaders including Finance and I&B Minister Arun Jaitely and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asking them to "do the needful", a report in The Indian Express adds.A Google doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on the website's homepage that is intended to commemorate holidays, events, achievements and people. Recently, Google doodle also celebrated Anant Pai’s 82nd birth anniversary and the Sena now want their founder as they feel he has worked hard for the people and "it would be a great tribute to a real hero".Shewale also added that though the Google office in Bandra has processed the application for further procedure, it will take a long time to complete the formalities. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
