The state government, which had earlier planned a new excise policy for wholesale and retail vending of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) on the lines of Tamil Nadu, has dropped the idea and decided to follow the ongoing practice of the lottery system while allotting shops. Andhra Pradesh will be constructing the capital complex in Amaravati on 1.32 crore square feet of land, making it one of the biggest in the country.The complex will have the Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, High Court complex, guest houses and other important buildings and is expected to become functional by 2018. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday set a deadline of August 15 for water to flow in the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project (PLIP) and vowed to rig up the construction site with surveillance cameras so that he can monitor the work from his home in Hyderabad. “I will monitor the works whenever I find the time,” he told the media after inspecting work at the Pattiseema as well as the Polavaram projects. Read a report in The Hindu. 4. In a move that could blow up in his face and cause more embarrassment, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's close aides have zeroed in on a palatial bungalow on the banks of river Krishna in Undavalli village for his makeshift residence.
