It's official: Pawan Kalyan and Jana Sena to contest in the 2019 elections

Telugu actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan on Sunday said that his party would contest the 2019 elections.

Pawan Kalyan said this in an interview for promoting his film 'Sardar Gabbar Singh', where he added that he was ready to completely step into politics.

"I have embarked on this journey and I am prepared to walk the rough terrain. I know politics is not a very clean arena, but I have taken this decision after a thorough home work," he was quoted as saying.

When asked about the delay in the grant of a 'special status' to Andhra, the actor said "I still have not lost all hope. When I am convinced that nothing is happening on this front, I will think of my next course of action."

Pawan Kalyan also said that he would not invite his elder brother Chiranjeevi into Jana Sena and that his film career might end after two or three movies as he steps up his political career.

The Times of India reported:

Speculation is rife in the political circles that Jana Sena might sail with the BJP after both parties snapping ties with the ruling TDP in the state. It would be an interesting scenario to watch as political equations in the state would witness a total change in the event of Pawan going against TDP. Although TDP is on an overdrive to woo Kapus, it is difficult for the community to stay put with Chandrababu Naidu.
