AP considers amphibious bus, hovercrafts, jet skis and houseboats to promote tourism

The News Minute | January 7, 2015 | 8:20 am ISTThe Andhra Pradesh tourism department, in a bid to give thrust to water sports and water transport, is planning to start an amphibian bus service at tourist spots along the coastline.According to a report in the Times of India, the tourism department was in touch with foreign manufacturers for this purpose and is planning to commence operations from Vishakapatnam.The bus was initially meant for Goa, but as the Goa tourism department did not reach an agreement, its AP counterpart wants to grab this opportunity. The bus which will cost around 2 crore can carry 15 to 20 people in a single trip and show them some picturesque locations around the beach.The tourism department will give permission to private agencies to run this bus. The officials are also considering hovercrafts, jet skis and other water spots and houseboats along the coast to boost domestic tourism. Tweet
