Sankgeetha Vijay, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s wife, withdrew her divorce petition on August 7, according to reports. Sankgeetha had previously alleged "persistent mental cruelty, neglect and desertion" when filing for divorce in February 2026. She had reportedly cited personal disputes and infidelity as the reason for the divorce in the petition.

She appeared before the Chengalpattu Family Court via a video call and submitted the reasons for not pursuing her case, reports add. As per reports, the court has accordingly accepted the case as withdrawn.

Reports also say a notice was served to Vijay’s counsel, who recorded no objection to Sankgeetha’s request.

Vijay and Sankgeetha got married in 1998 in the UK. Sangeetha is reportedly a fan he met in London. She filed her divorce petition in February this year detailing alleged abusive behaviour and negligence towards her and their children.
